Metal Clay Artisans of Atlanta - Chapter of the PMC Guild
Northern Georgia Special Notes ![]() ![]()
We would all like to thank Cindy Long for allowing us to live vicariously through her great review of the PMC Conference. Cindy also shared her great tip for melting leftover pieces of paper clay to make tiny balls of granulation. Great idea! Thanks, Cindy. Connie Clark caught everyone's attention with her demo on the possibilities of Poylmer Clay combined with PMC. She will continue to share her talent with us at a workshop on Oct. 17th. About Connie Clark Traveling around the world taught me an appreciation of various cultures via their art. It's produced a desire to create, and teach others to create, unique wearable art in the form of jewelry. Over the years I've worked in various craft medium. I still love learning new things, and have a motto: How can I change what I have learned and make something different? I frequently warn my instructors when taking a class that I want to learn all they have to teach me on technique, but that it is very unlikely that I will produce a match of their sample piece. I may change it a little, or more drastically. There is an excellent off-the-loom bead weaving instructor I have taken several classes from, and she tells me that she looks forward to seeing how I will change the design. Being a very creative person herself, she appreciates this quality in others. I find it particularly satisfying when I can combine techniques to make a truly unusual piece. Jewelry is a very personal expression of self, both in the artist that makes it, and the person that chooses to wear it. Currently I'm having fun figuring out new ways to combine two favorites with seemingly unlimited possibilities - polymer & metal clay. Our Atlanta PMC Guild work session on 10/17 will be making stylish polymer clay pieces to enhance our metal clay forms. For more information email MakeIt1OfaKind@gmail.com. |
